ಅವಕಾಶವಾದಿಯಲ್ಲವೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಪಲಾಯನವಾದಿಯನೂ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಅವರು ಇಹದ ಬದುಕಿಗೆ ಬದ್ದರಾದವರು. ಮಾನವೀಯ ಮೌೌಲ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಮುಗಿಬಿದ್ದವರು. ಬದುಕನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡವರು, ಬದುಕನ್ನೇ ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡವರು. ತಮಗೆ ಈ ಬದುಕು ಕಲಿಸಿದ ಪಾಠ ಇದನ್ನೇ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಡೆಕ್ಕನ್ ಹೆರಾಲ್ಡ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗೆ (5–3–1984) ಬರೆದ ಲೇಖನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ:
“What should be the writer’s task in the context? Deeply concerned with the Fate of man, he shall always, in all spheres, fight the forces of evil and unhold human values. Humanism alone can be the guiding spirit in everything that he does. A committed writer he is, committed to Life in its totality.
Now, in 1984, the writer, past middle age, continues to be firm in his commitment to life; his concern for man remains as deep as ever; and his faith in humanism undiminished.”
ತನ್ನ ಉಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನವೀಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ತುoಬಿಕೊoಡಿರುವ ನಿರoಜನ ಇನ್ನೂ ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ 'ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಭಾವ ಬದುಕು' ಹಸಿರಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರವಾಹದ ಎದುರು ಈಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈಸಬೇಕು ಇದ್ದು ಜೈಸಬೇಕು .ಹೌದು, ನಿರಂಜನರು ಜೈಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಸುಮಾರು ಅರ್ಧ ಶತಮಾನದ ಸುದೀರ್ಘ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಕ ಜೈತ್ರಯಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ದಾಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಲೇಖಣಿಯ ಮಸಿ ಕಡಮೆಯಾದುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ಅಕ್ಷಯ; ಕನ್ನಡದ ಭಾಗ್ಯ
