But no. such exclusive definition can be made that a particular kind of art is Indian or Oriental or of any other specific kind. One knows how the history of Art in Europe has been changing fast. Those who belong to the past centuries cannot recognise the modern terms of Art. It would be completely foreign to them and this is but natural. The human mind is growing and those with no modern artexperience require that form of self-expression to be adjusted to them. Unfortunately we in India of the present day, never had a background of experience in the artistic life of man. We are very parochial in our knowledge and therefore very crude in our critical experience of anything which is modern. The time has come when our artists should come into closer touch with modern life in India.
