14 of the same place. By order of Venkatappa-Nayaka (1582-1629) of Ikkerı Tirumala - bhatta wrote the Sivagite. Basdvappa-Nayaka (1697-1714) of Ikkeri was the author of the Suktisudhakara, and his successor Somasekhara-Nayaka's minister Nirvanaiya wrote the Sivapujavidhana. The Kalale chief Vira-Raja wiote the Vaid yasamhitasararnava, and his protege Chennayya the Padmini-parinaya Deva-Raja, son of Vira-Raja, was the patron of Rangaiya, the author of the Tulakaveri-mahatmya. Nanja-Raja, younger brother of Deva-Raja, was himself a voluminous author, under whose patronage Nuronda wrote the Sinundar (a-kavya and Venkatesa the Malasya-mahatmya. Further, Deva-kavı (c 1200), the author of the Kusumavali, was patronised by Chikkara ja-e hamupa, Mahabalakavi (1254), who wrote the Nemînatha-purana, by KetayaNayaka, Vijayanna (1448), the author of the Dvadasanuprekshe, by Honnabandı Deva-Raja, the ruler of Vemmanabhavi in the Beluvala-nadu, and Bommarasa (c 1450), who composed the Saundara-purana by Tipparasa, the ruler of Denkanıkote. Some more authors appear to have been minor chiefs in possession of a small principality or one or more villages. The following table gives their names, works and approximate period :- AUTHOR WORK.
