(Sd.) H. J. BHABILIA, M.A., Inspector-General of Education. 4. Sir P. N. Krishnamoorthy, B.L., K.C.I.E., the late Dewan of Mysore. I read with much interest your excellent work Dharmapada and offer my best thanks for your unselfish labour. Your Comparison of Buddhism with l'edantism is very striking and I fully believe that your present work will renmain an authority both to Ilindus and Buddhist alike.

5. Mr. V. P. Madhava Rao, B.A.C.L.E., Retired Dewan of Mysore and Travancore. From the beginning, it appears, Mr. Aswathanarayana Sastry, has cut out an independant line of study and research for himself and after a critical study of both Hinduism and Buddhism has come to the conclusion that our Revivolists have not done justice to the teachings of great Buddha who was no appostate from our ancient religion; but was on the other hand one who taught the highest principies based upon our Sanatana Dharma, the principales of which have been lost sight of in the growth of Riti!.alism, which like rauk vegetation has almost killed many of the fairer plants of Hindu thought. Mr. Sastri's view may not be acceptable to our (Orthodox Pundits, I mean the ordinary run of Puudits, but to those who can understand bini fully there is much to admire in his learned exposition.
