FOREWORD. In the following 402 pages of the Parishat Journal there are four contributions written by the Editorial Board, 14 original articles written by scholars, and several reviews of books and journals together with the Annual Report for the year Nala (1916 17) and an account of the Third Literary Conference held at Mysore in the month of June 1917. Narayana Rao's articles in connection with the origin of several kannada words evince his anxiety to produce an improved Dictionary of the Kannada Language. Mr. R. Raghunatha Rao's article · Euphony in Kannada attempts to give a conmprehensive and historical view of the subject. Tlis "(Outlines of the History of the Kannada Language" contains several facts relating to the developinent of the Kannada Language in different centres of culture. Pandit S.
