Writes:-

I have read in a general way Mr. M. N Srinivasa Iyengar's History of sanskrit literature This is the first work of its kind in the Kannada language and bears indications of considerable research and amazing industry on the part of the author. The work extends over a period of about ten centuries. The illustrative extracts given from the works of several authors throw some light on the prevailing ideas of the several periods. I hope the people of the Karnataka country will interest themselves in Works of this kind and lend a helping hand to the lonely workers now in the feld Mr. Keith has recently published an impor- tant and Scholarly History of Sanskrit Drama, under the auspices of the Oxford University. Similarly may We not hope that the uni versities in Southern India including Bombay which include Kannada among their languages will give encouragement to the author and enable him to continue his work. The Karnataka Sahitya Parishad will also, I hope will interest itself in the matter.
