'ದಶಕುಮಾರ ಚರಿತ'ವೆಂಬ ಕಾವ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವನೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಇದೊಂದು ಪದ್ಯವನ್ನು
ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿರಿ. (ಈ ಕವಿಯ ಕಾಲ ಕ್ರಿ. ಶ. ೧೩೦೦ ಎಂದು ಕವಿಚರಿತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ
ಕೊಡಲಾಗಿದೆ)
ಮೊದಲೊಳ್ ದಂಡಿಕವೀಶ್ವರಂ ದಶಕುಮಾರಾಖ್ಯಾನ ಚಾರಿತ್ರಮಂ |
ಪದಪಿಂ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಭಾಷೆಯಿಂ ರಚಿಸಿದಂ ಧಾತ್ರೀಜನಸ್ತೋತ್ರ ||
ಮುದವಪ್ಪಂತದನಾಂ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದಿಯವರಾರಾಕಾರಮಂ ನಟ್ಟುವಂ |
ವಿದಿತಂ ರಂಗದೊಳಾಡಿ ತೋರ್ಪ ತೆರದಿಂ ಪೇಳ್ವೆಂ ಸುಕರ್ಣಾಟದಿಂ ||
ಚೌಂಡರಸನ 'ದಶಕುಮಾರ ಚರಿತೆ'ಯೆಂಬುದು ಹತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ರಾಜಪುತ್ರರ
ಥಗಳನ್ನೊಳಗೊಂಡ ಕಾವ್ಯ. ಈ ಪದ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ 'ದಶಾವತಾರಾಕಾರ' ಎಂದರೆ,
ಷ್ಣುವಿನ ಹತ್ತು ಅವತಾರದ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನೊಳಗೊಂಡ ರೂಪಕ ಅಥವಾ ದೃಶ್ಯಕಾವ್ಯ
ಎಂದರ್ಥ. 'ನಟ್ಟುವಂ' ಎಂದು ಏಕವಚನವಿದ್ದರೂ ಅದು ನಟ್ಟುವ ವರ್ಗ ಅಥವಾ
ಕಟ್ಟುವ ಮೇಳ' ಎಂಬರ್ಥದ ಜಾಕವಚನ ಪ್ರಯೋಗವೆಂದೆಣಿಸಬೇಕು. ಈ ನಟ್ಟುವ
'ಂಬವರು ನಾಟಕ ಪ್ರಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರತರೆಂಬುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಪುರಾತನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಾವ್ಯ
ಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ವರ್ಣನೆಗಳಿಂದ ತಿಳಿಯುವುದು. ಪೊನ್ನನ ಶಾಂತಿ ಪುರಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ
ಗೀರ್ವಾಣ ಮಂಗಳ ಗಾಯಕರ ಸಂಗೀತ ಗಾಯಕರಾಗೆ ನಿಳಿಂಪ ಭಾರತಿಕರ
'ಟ್ಟುವರಾಗೆ ಸನ್ಮಾರ್ಗ ನಾಟಕ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಸೂತ್ರಧಾರನೆ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಂದು
ಶಿಷ್ಪಾಂಜಲಿಯಂ ಕೆದರೆ" ಎಂಬ ವರ್ಣನೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ನಟ್ಟುವರು ನಾಟ್ಯಸೇವಾನಿರತರಾಗಿದ್ದುದೂ
ಸನಾದಿಗಳಿಂದ ತಿಳಿದುಬಂದ ವಿಚಾರ. ಆಂಧ್ರ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರಾದ ವಿಸ್ಸ ಅಪ್ಪಾರಾವು
೦ಬವರು, ಆಂಧ್ರದ ಕೂಚಿಪುಡಿ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದ ಕುರಿತು ಬರೆದ ತಮ್ಮ
ಂದು ಪ್ರಬಂಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿರಿ-
"Inscriptions of the 8th, 9th and 10th centuries show the
xistence of another group of artistes known as Nattuva Melas in
ashmir, Andhra, the Dravida Country and Karnataka. The quality
the art of these Nattuva Melas, in which women played
portant roles, was gradually deteriorating. It was therefore felt
at the pristine purity and quality of this dance should be restored
and as a result, Brahmana Melas which excluded women were
organised and the Kuchipudi Bhagavata Mela was one of them.
The members of these melas received a broad cultural education
in Sanskrit and Telugu literature. They were proficient in the Natya
Sastra, Nandikeswara's Abhinaya Darpana and Alamkara Sastra,
and underwent a disciplined and rigorous training in nritta,

ಕೂಚಿಪುಡಿ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಪ್ರಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಮಾಕಲಾಪ, ಗೊಲ್ಲ ಕಲಾಪ, ದಶಾವತಾರ ಇವು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಧಾನವಾದುವು ಎಂಬುದು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಗಮನಾರ್ಹವಾಗಿದೆ.
