140 A GRAMMAR OF THE RULE 2d. When Sanscrit nouns of the masculine gender, and terminating in eno, are introduced into the Carnáțaca language, the fioal letter becomics short ; as వి , ఇ పేసు protector of the worlds. " RULE 3d. When Sanscrit nouns of the feminine gender, and terminating in Oso, are introduced into the Carnataca language, the final vowel is changed into a; as గంగా గంగియు the holy river ganges, వనిరా,వనిచేయు a woman, ఓయ్యూ , శయ్య యు vedding. EXCEPTIONS. The nouns evado a plain at the foot of a mountain, enn, Jr a plain at the top of a mountain, wéw-J a bedstead, costs, grinders, ai u 7: sand, and viswd or dogs the plantain tree, are introduccd into the Carnáaca language by shortening the final vowel; as er á og bã, emoj-as &c. When the Sanscrit nouns ಕ್ರಿ ನಾ and ಕಥಾ neck, g a!ms, ಅ ಪ್ಪ criminal law, evoeng or Evro a name, adr. the nose, o biroa faror, er ooh and er og to desire, and a toy a forest, are introduced into the Carnátaca language, the final vowel is either shortened, or changed into a; as శ్రీవవు or శ్రీజియు, విడను or ని ఓయు &c. RULE 4th. COLI When Sanscrit nouns terminating in Ex or ers are introduced into the Carnáțaca language, the final vowel is shortened ; as (Tiabris, w, aurre యు a leadinan, లక్ష్మీ, లక్ష్మియు the goddess y riches, స్ట్రయం డ్రూ, స్టయం శిశువు Bramha, థూ, వధువు a woman.
